Decatur Municipal Airport (ICAO: KLUD, FAA LID: LUD) is a city-owned, public-use airport located two nautical miles (3.7 km) north of the central business district of Decatur, a city in Wise County, Texas, United States.[1]
Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this airport is assigned LUD by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA[2] (which assigned LUD to Lüderitz Airport in Namibia[3]).
Decatur Municipal Airport covers an area of 205 acres (83 ha) at an elevation of 1,047 feet (319 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 17/35 with an asphalt surface measuring 4,200 by 60 feet (1,280 x 18 m).[1]
For the 12-month period ending September 4, 2008, the airport had 13,200 general aviation aircraft operations, an average of 36 per day. At that time there were 48 aircraft based at this airport: 79% single-engine, 13% multi-engine and 8% glider.[1]
